Spice Up Your Home With These Fall Decorating Ideas

By on

Home decorating purchases were significantly impacted by the great recession of 2008. Home decorators have become more conservative when it comes to accessorizing for special occasions. We have also seen a decrease in spending on overall home decor and accessories.

Whether your fall decor or holiday decor budget is large or small, going big with natural decor can create an impact when your interior design style is modern, traditional or rustic.

Fall decor is driven by a color palette of tans, browns, warm to cool earth tones that also lead into golds and reds. Choosing design elements that are not “Thanksgiving” specific, but that are in an earth tone palette, is an ideal transition to winter decor.

Here are some of our favorite decorating elements for the fall season.

Magnolia Flowers

Magnolia flowers are a great accent for fall and have become a “hot” item because they transition so well into the holiday season. People invest in these types of flowers for fall decor due to their perfection.

Magnolia brings a beautiful look and scale to any room in the home, and even outdoors. It’s an investment that can be used, re-used and reinvented for fall and winter.

Oak Branches

Oak branches add a touch of earthy bling to home decor. They mix well and cross over into holiday decor, offering a sense of the outdoor to interior living spaces.

Electric or Illuminating Candles

Electric and/or illumination candles are a great fall and holiday decor item that complement seasonal decor. These candles are a great investment as they have a “home” all year round. Electric or illuminating candles especially complement Asian or Moroccan inspired design. This type of lighting in the wine country can give a sense of fall and winter, both inside and outside your home year round.
